The Philadelphia Eagles need to bid farewell to these 6 free agents

Duke Riley
Another linebacker who needs to hit the road this offseason, Duke Riley should’ve never even been given the opportunity to start at LB in the first place. Acquired to be a “special teamer” back in 2019, Riley was one of those guys who Jim Schwartz inexplicably fell in love with. He was fast tracked from being one of the guys who runs down on kickoffs, to being an every down linebacker on a team who was supposed to compete for a playoff spot.
Obviously, that strategy didn’t work out too well for the Eagles. Riley allowed 76.7% of the passes thrown his way to be completed, and he was a pretty consistent liability in the run game. Philly didn’t really give up anything to acquire him in the first place, so it’s fine that he didn’t really work out, but that doesn’t negate the fact that him being a starting LB is an experiment that needed to end yesterday.
Loved his hustle and energy this year, but similar to Gerry’s situation, the Eagles would be better off giving his snaps to Taylor, Bradley, or a new potential rookie LB in 2021.
The Philadelphia Eagles have a lot of tough decisions to make this offseason, but moving off the six players I mentioned above should not be apart of them. Just make the easy call and cut ties, and start working towards building a better, younger roster in 2021.
