Alex Singleton!
Heading into the regular season, pretty much everyone in the universe knew the Philadelphia Eagles linebacker core wasn’t good enough – everyone except for Howie Roseman that is… Using a jumbled mess of college safeties and special teamers, the Eagles LB group got absolutely torched through the first couple games of the season.
Guys like Nate Gerry and Duke Riley were routinely picked on by opposing QBs, TJ Edwards never took that leap forward, and rookies Davion Taylor and Shaun Bradley barely saw the field.
Ultimately, it was former CFL star Alex Singleton who would come in and provide a spark at linebacker. Since getting the starting job in Week 6, Singleton has logged 97 total tackles. He’s also recovered two fumbles, returned an INT for a touchdown, logged four TFLs, and recorded one sack (for good measure).
Singleton isn’t a perfect linebacking prospect by any stretch of the imagination (110.8 passer rating when targeted), but he’s at least shown some decent potential as a run defender. Having him line up alongside a stud rookie linebacker next year is definitely something that fans can get excited about moving forward.

Ultimately speaking, 2020 was a brutal brutal year for the Philadelphia Eagles. While it’s hard to get too excited about the team moving forward (considering the cap situation, QB room, etc.), it’s always worth looking on the bright side when you can. Here’s to better things in 2021!
