Philadelphia Eagles 7-round mock draft: Lockdown CB in the first-round
By David Esser
The Philadelphia Eagles select…
Just like the D-Line, it wouldn’t be a Philadelphia Eagles draft if they didn’t take an offensive lineman at some point. Standing in at 6-3, 330lbs, Georgia’s Trey Hill gives Jeff Stoutland another developmental project to start grooming up.
Hill primarily played center for the Bulldogs, which is important considering the fact that Jason Kelce could retire at any moment. Hill isn’t the most athletic and struggles to move up into the second level, but he provides much needed depth to a position that could be vacated sometime in the near future.
QB factory!!!
In all seriousness, the Philadelphia Eagles should probably draft another quarterback this year. Nate Sudfield is set to be an unrestricted free agent, and there’s a half decent chance that Carson Wentz will no longer be on the roster in 2021. If that’s the case, the team will be strolling into the offseason with just Jalen Hurts in their QB room.
Tanner Morgan doesn’t add a lot to the Eagles terms of elite quarterbacking ability, but he’s a Big Ten passer who could blossom into a serviceable backup. What made him stand out to me compared to other late-round QBs is the fact that he used a lot of RPOs in college – a style of offense that Doug Pederson routinely implemented for Nick Foles back in 2017 and 2018.
It’s still unclear where the Eagles will be selecting in the 2021 draft, but this mock helps them fill as many holes as possible. They get a new starting CB, WR, and LB, a backup RB and TE, and then a handful of developmental prospects on both sides of the football in the later rounds. Hard to be too upset with that.
