Most disappointing Philadelphia Eagles: Matt Pryor

It’s tough for a backup lineman to crack a “most disappointing players” list, but Matt Pryor found a way to do it.

A sixth-round pick back in 2018, many viewed Pryor as another one of the Philadelphia Eagles successful offensive line projects. They did a fantastic job molding “Big V” into a hyper-versatile piece during the team’s Super Bowl winning season, and former rugby player Jordan Mailata was slowly blossoming into an actual piece at LT. After a promising first start during the Eagles 2019 playoff game against Seattle, it appeared that Pryor was set to follow a similar path.

However, the complete opposite happened.

Pryor got bumped out of the O-Line rotation during training camp, and was only called into action once the injuries started piling up. Playing at both guard and right tackle, Pryor immensely struggled. He gave up multiple sacks, and was a routine victim of false start and holding penalties. As crazy as it sounds, his horrible performances have been a big reason the offense has struggled so much in 2020.

Despite the commitment that the organization has shown to his development in the past, he’s a prime candidate to get released during the upcoming offseason.
