Most disappointing Philadelphia Eagles: Nickell Robey-Coleman

When the Philadelphia Eagles announced that they had agreed to sign Nickell Robey-Coleman to a one-year deal in free agency, fans were pretty darn ecstatic. The veteran defensive back was coming off a handful of solid years with the Los Angeles Rams, and the Eagles coaching staff went as far as calling him a “top-five slot corner” in all of football.

With Darius Slay set to hold down one side of the field and NRC set to lockdown the slot, Eagles fans were actually feeling fairly good about their secondary.

However, all of that came crashing down in Week 2.

Going up against his former team, NRC was exposed play after play. He allowed six catches on six targets (including one TD), and walked away from the outing with a 155.6 passer rating when targeted. The disastrous performance wasn’t a fluke either, as NRC went on to produce similarly bad performances throughout the rest of the season.

Heading into Week 17, Robey-Coleman is allowing a 77.8% completion percentage when targeted and a 123.0 passer rating. The veteran corner has also produced zero turnovers, and his missed tackle rate is up at 18.5%. Not only has NRC been a flop of a free agency signing, but he’s also genuinely been one of the worst slot corners in the league this season.
