Alex Singleton: A+

Yup, you read that correctly. An A+ for the former Canadian football league superstar.

A special teamer in 2019, Alex Singleton has really blossomed into a legit NFL linebacker here in 2020. He still struggles in terms of pass coverage a good chunk of the time, but his natural ability to create havoc in the run game is undeniable.

Singelton has 98 total tackles on the season despite only starting nine game, and he’s played a role in three defensive turnovers.

Singleton is overall still a pretty raw linebacking prospect, but he absolutely has the potential to develop into a full-time, starting caliber LB down the road. If he keeps playing the way he’s been playing the last couple of weeks, a multi-year extension is likely in the cards for him.

T.J. Edwards: C+

Heading into the 2020 season, T.J. Edwards was the second-year linebacker who everyone pinned as being a potential breakout star on the Philadelphia Eagles defense. While Singleton has stolen that spotlight, Edwards hasn’t been too bad in the opportunities he’s been afforded.

He’s missed some time due to injury, but Edwards has proven to be solid in defending against the run. He had 13 tackles and a forced fumble against Dallas back in Week 8 – at least proving that he belongs on an NFL roster.

It’s unclear what the Eagles plan at linebacker is moving forward, but Edwards will at least retain a special teams/backup role for the 2021 season.
