Round 2, 39th overall

Alabama. Dylan Moses. 39. Pick Analysis. LB. player. 54. Scouting Report

Back-to-back Alabama players in the first two rounds of the draft? Yes, yes please.

In a league that’s been increasingly prioritizing big-school players from the SEC, the Philadelphia Eagles have shown a tendency to zag in the other direction. They took a Pac-12 WR in the second-round back in 2019 (JJ Arcega-Whiteside), and a project LB from Colorado in the third-round last year (Davion Taylor). I guess the word isn’t out yet on Taylor, but it’s been frustrating to watch the Eagles consistently pass on talent from elite college football programs.

In my mock, we’re not doing that. We’re grabbing Alabama’s best wide receiver in the first-round, and then selecting their best linebacker in the second. The Eagles get two elite prospects to kick off the draft, filling two of their biggest needs in the process.

Dylan Moses is everything you could ask for in a linebacking prospect. He’s 6-3, 240lbs and has 154 total tackles over his last two collegiate seasons. He’d slide right in as the Eagles LB1 for 2021, taking some pressure off guys like Alex Singleton and TJ Edwards moving forward.

WR and LB in the first two rounds of the draft? Hard to complain with that.
