Buckeyes. Baron Browning. Pick Analysis. Linebacker. . player. 812. Scouting Report

One of the biggest needs going into this offseason for the Philadelphia Eagles will be at the linebacker position. It’s only right that we address this position again for players to watch in the Big 10 title game.

On defense, Baron Browning is going to be one of the players to keep a close eye on for Ohio State. On a team that seemingly always produces NFL talent, he is one of the best they will trot out this weekend.

Being the middle of the field general for Ohio State has given him a lot of experience and opportunity to improve his game. At 6-foot-3, 240 pounds, Browning has great instincts in getting to where the play needs to be made. His closing speed in the run game is what makes him a great prospect, as he’s able to sniff out the run very quick and close in on opposing running backs.

Browning’s ability to get after the quarterback shouldn’t be overlooked too much either, as he had five sacks in 2019. With the mobile quarterback being the trend in college, Browning was able to play the spy role in several games and keep opposing quarterbacks in check and not let them get loose out of the pocket. His size and strength are the two tangible traits that will help him make the transition from college to the pros. Playing at Ohio State helps a lot too, as he gets the chance to play elite talent every weekend.

Browning is going to be one of the top linebackers selected in the draft but might not be a first-rounder due to the attention linebackers don’t really receive as first-round talents. He’ll definitely hear his name called on Day 2, as he’ll be a second or third-round selection. Wherever he lands, he’ll give great value to a team in need of an every-down linebacker. Hopefully, that ends up being the Eagles.
