Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Cornerback. . player. 882. Wildcats. Greg Newsome II

As mentioned previously, the Northwestern defense has been a big reason as to why the Wildcats are in the Big 10 Championship. Aside from their linebacking core, members of their secondary have contributed to their success. This includes cornerback Greg Newsome II.

In his junior season, Newsome has been the best cornerback for Northwestern and shown he can cover opposing receivers at a high level. Over a three-game streak this season, Newsome gave up only one catch for seven yards. He also recorded an interception over that stretch that included almost 80 coverage snaps.

At 6-foot-1, Newsome has shown he has the ability to play the outside cornerback position and contain receivers on his side of the field. The only thing that could hurt his draft stock is injuries and the shortened season that the Big 10 has played this year.

If he does decide to declare for the draft, Newsome could see himself as a Day 3 pick in the draft. He would provide great value to a team needy at cornerback and depth at the position. This applies significantly to the Philadelphia Eagles, as they could use a true outside cornerback and a player like Newsome.
