Phillies: Alec Bohm

2020 was a messed up year for the Phils, but we did get our first glimpse of budding star Alec Bohm, and it was glorious. It was only 44 games, a small sample to be sure, but young Bohm already has all the looks of becoming a middle-of-the-order run producer for years to come.

Nobody expects Bohm to maintain an average in the ballpark of the blistering .338 mark that he put up during his rookie year, of course, but he is legitimately worth getting excited about. His defense over at third base is another story, as the Phillies should be hoping that the National League institutes a full-time DH. But they can probably live with it for another year or two before moving him off the hot corner.

This team’s front office has screwed up so many things over the last five years, but taking Bohm third overall in the 2018 draft sure wasn’t one of them. The Phils and their fans should be rightly over the moon about Bohm. Now when can I actually see him play in person?

Also in the mix: The hustle and production of Bryce Harper, the promise of Spencer Howard (hopefully), and the ace-like performances of Aaron Nola as long as it’s not an important game.
