#5. Revamp the secondary

The Philadelphia Eagles secondary was really bad in 2018 and 2019, and the common argument was that they *only* lacked a true, lockdown corner. Well, the team went out and traded for Darius Slay, and the secondary still hasn’t been able to figure things out.

This somewhat goes hand in hand with moving on from Jim Schwartz, but the Eagles need to perform a complete overhaul of their defensive back group after this season. Avonte Maddox is clearly not an outside corner, Nickell Robey-Coleman turned out to be a disaster of a free agent signing, Cre’Von LeBlanc is likely better off on the practice squad, Rodney McLeod is on his last legs, and Jalen Mills is definitely not a safety.

With exception of Slay, you could make a genuine argument for the team needing to replace every single position in their secondary. Rookie safety K’Von Wallace still has a boatload of potential in my opinion, but it’s hard to know if he could jump into a starting role next season.

Prioritizing the cornerback position in the draft would be a great starting point to fixing this issue.

Next. Have the Philadelphia Eagles become over-reliant on practice squad players?. dark

Five steps is a lot to accomplish in one offseason, but this is a Philadelphia Eagles team that is quickly spiraling out of a control. If they don’t jump on some of these issues sooner rather than later, it could end up being a long few years of mediocrity.
