#3. Nickell Robey-Coleman
Signed to fix the Philadelphia Eagles nickel corner woes this past offseason, the self-proclaimed “slot god” has been downright awful here in 2020. He’s allowing a completion percentage of 78.6%, and opposing quarterbacks have a passer rating of 112.4 when targeting the former LA Ram.
Even for the Eagles’ CB standards, that’s extremely below average.
Nickell Robey-Coleman got little attention on the open market during free agency (maybe that should have served as a red flag), but ultimately landed in Philadelphia on a one-year deal. The thought process was that he would hold down opposing team’s slot receivers, while Darius Slay would command WR1 duties on the outside.
While Slay has been downright fantastic since joining Philly, NRC has consistently been a hindrance on the field. He got benched for Cre’Von LeBlanc after just two games, and he only got worked back into the CB rotation because Avonte Maddox got injured. Robey-Coleman’s effort has been called into question on a handful of times as well, as it looks he isn’t giving it 100% when on the field.
Cited as a “top 5 slot corner” upon arriving to Philadelphia, NRC has been an utter disappointment. It’s hard to imagine he’ll be on the team come 2021.
