Alshon Jeffery

Do I really even need to write a bit about how the Philadelphia Eagles are still trying to trade Alshon Jeffery? Ah whatever, I guess I will.

Yes, the Eagles are 100% still looking to pawn Jeffery off on a team. They’ve been trying to for the last 18 months. Howie Roseman has failed at finding a suitor for the injured veteran, and it’s unlikely this year’s deadline will be any different.

Jeffery carries a $7.65 million cap hit for the remainder of 2020, and then an $18.4 million cap hit in 2021. It’s arguably the worst contract in the entire NFL at the moment, and there’s just no reason for a team to take that onto their payroll.

Even a WR-needy team like the Green Bay Packers would simply be better off shooting some late-round picks for one of the Texans many affordable wide receivers.

Howie Roseman made a big time mistake when he extended Jeffery prematurely after the Super Bowl, and then doubled down on that mistake when he guaranteed the remainder of Jeffery’s contract prior to the 2019 season for genuinely no reason. With Travis Fulgham emerging as the team’s primary X receiver, it’s unlikely that Jeffery even plays another snap in midnight green at this point.

It’s even more unlikely that a team comes calling trying to trade for the veteran wideout.
