Curtis Samuel

Current team: Carolina Panthers

As I’m writing this, Curtis Samuel and the Carolina Panthers are currently taking on the Atlanta Falcons on Thursday Night Football. Samuel is having himself a pretty awesome night, scoring a touchdown as a running back and then one as a receiver as well.

Samuel has struggled to find a solidified role within the Panthers offense for the majority of his career, however a new coaching staff has started to get the best out of him here in 2020. They’ve used him as a runner quite a bit more recently, and it’s allowed him to utilize his explosive speed.

Samuel wouldn’t provide the Eagles with the greatest of pass-catching upgrades, but he would definitely give Doug Pederson an added weapon on offense. Pederson and the Eagles have struggled to orchestrate explosive plays on a consistent basis this season, and Samuel could be the piece to get those creative juices flowing. Whether it’s lining him up at RB like the Panthers have been, or getting him involved in end-arounds and quick screens, Samuel could definitely help keep opposing defenses on their toes.

With the Panthers having a better season than initially expected, however, it’s unknown just how keen they are to move Samuel.
