Dumping Alshon Jeffery.

A tale as old as time, the Philadelphia Eagles are still shopping veteran wide receiver Alshon Jeffery. He’s yet to play a game this season, and his last active appearance came during Week 10 of 2019.

Despite his Super Bowl 52 heroics, Jeffery’s tenure in the City of Brotherly Love has turned into one to forget. He never developed into that WR1 that Roseman had hoped he would become, he bashed Carson Wentz on two separate occasions, and now he’s costing the team $15 million and a roster spot.

The Eagles have been shopping Jeffery for well over a year now, and it doesn’t sound like anyone is biting. At this point in time, the Eagles best bet is to dump him off on a team looking to absorb bad salaries, while giving up a late-round pick to sweeten the deal.

Trading him to a tanking team (Jaguars, Jets, etc.), while giving up a fifth/sixth round pick in the process, is likely the only way to get something like this done. That’s obviously less than ideal, but getting Jeffery off the books for the 2021 season is one of the best things the team could do for its longterm future.
