Which trades make the most sense for the Philadelphia Eagles?

The NFL trade deadline is now less than one week away, and the closer we get to it, the more and more it’s starting to sound like Howie Roseman and the Philadelphia Eagles will use it as a time to shuffle some pieces around. Sat in first place at the moment, it’s hard to imagine them going full on “sellers” mode, but that doesn’t mean all of their aging veterans are necessarily safe from a move out of town.

Roseman’s approach to the deadline will likely depend on how the team fares against the Ben DiNucci led Dallas Cowboys this weekend. A resounding win could vault the Eagles back into a playoff mindset, whereas a loss all but ends the team’s 2020 campaign.

With all that in mind, here’s a nice long list of moves that would make sense for the Philadelphia Eagles over the next couple of days, both on the “buying” and the “selling” side of things:

Acquiring a starting middle linebacker.

This one is pretty much a no-brainer, as Jim Schwartz and the Eagles defense have really struggled with their middle linebacker position this season. Nate Gerry is a college safety turned outside linebacker turned middle linebacker, and he’s just simply way out of his league at the moment.

While I don’t think a move for someone big like Deion Jones or Myles Jack makes a whole lot of sense, Roseman poking around for a young, bounce-back candidate at the position is in line with what the team needs at the moment.

I mentioned names like Jarrad Davis and Denzel Perryman earlier in the week, and both still make a ton of sense to me currently.
