3 reasons the Philadelphia Eagles will be buyers at the trade deadline
Get healthy, become a contender?
Another reason that might draw Howie Roseman to be aggressive at the deadline is that the Philadelphia Eagles are seemingly getting healthier. The thought here is that although the Birds had a very rough start, they also had most of their major injuries occur earlier in the season, which means players will start coming back into the lineup as the weeks go on.
The consensus before the season was that the Eagles, if healthy, were serious NFC contenders. So why would they believe different now as players begin to get healthy and return? We’ve already seen guys like Jalen Reagor, Jason Peters, and TJ Edwards activated for 21-day practice windows. We also know that WR Alshon Jeffery is set to return any week now and rising star TE Dallas Goedert has a return on the horizon as well.
While the injuries have seemed endless and ongoing, it does appear the Eagles will have at least five starters returning relatively soon, which should be encouraging for the front office.
With the division in such bad shape, I believe the Eagles think they can take advantage of this season by just making the playoffs and giving themselves a chance as guys start to return. This actually transitions right into my final reason on why the Birds will be aggressive at the deadline….
