Philadelphia Eagles: 5 potential linebacker trades
By David Esser
Haason Reddick
Current Team: Arizona Cardinals
This has been the most popular name floated around in Eagles-linebacker trade rumors as of late, but personally speaking, I don’t see it happening.
Despite popping up in legitimate trade talks during the offseason, Haason Reddick has seen himself get a surprisingly large role within the Cardinals defense this season. A lot of that can be attributed to the team’s failure to incorporate first-round LB/S Isaiah Simmons, but that doesn’t change the reality of the situation. Reddick has played in 53% of the Cardinals defensive snaps this season, and he played in a season-high 61% last week against the Cowboys.
Considering the fact that Arizona is 4-2 and likely pushing for a spot in the postseason, it would shock me if they started selling off contributing linebackers halfway through the season. Maybe the Philadelphia Eagles could work out a player-for-player swap of sorts, but I’m struggling to figure out who the Cards would want off Philly’s struggling, aging roster.
The idea of flipping Zach Ertz for Reddick (and a pick) was thrown out there, but that’s just not even remotely good value for Philly, even with linebacker being an obvious need.
It’s worth mentioning due to the obvious Philadelphia connection that Reddick has (played at Temple), but ultimately speaking, this doesn’t seem like a super realistic target to me.
