3. C Brad Richardson

2019-2020 Team: Arizona Coyotes

2019-2020 Cap Hit: $1.25 million

Are you seeing the theme we are going with here? The Philadelphia Flyers are going to be bargain bin shopping this free agency. That doesn’t mean they won’t be able to find guys who can help this team win. Brad Richardson is another guy who could be had for relatively cheap and could positively impact the bottom-six forward group.

In his 15 year NHL career, Richardson has always been a quality player to have in your bottom six. Nothing flashy, as the most goals he has scored in any season is 19, which actually came in the 2018-2019 season. However, that is an outlier. As for the most part, he has hovered between 5-10 goals per year in his career. Luckily, Richardson would not be added for his goal-scoring prowess. His role in Philadelphia would be the 4th line center and a key penalty killer. Think Nate Thompson (who served as the Flyers 4th line center this past playoff run) with more skill.

Brad Richardson is strong in the face-off circle, winning 52 percent of the draws in his career. Sure, that is not a crazy win percentage, but anything over 50 percent is solid. He also has a solid amount of playoff experience, as he has appeared in 59 playoff games in his career. He even won the Stanley Cup with the Los Angeles Kings back in the spring of 2012. On a deal worth about the $1.25 he made last season, the Philadelphia Flyers would be wise to kick the tires on Richie.
