Somehow, the Eagles currently sit atop the NFC East.

Whether you want to believe it or not, the Philadelphia Eagles currently sit in first place in the NFC East, and more importantly, they sit in a playoff spot. After a super (and I mean super!) rocky start, the birds are now back in a position where they control their own destiny moving forward.

Now for what it’s worth, a win over a depleted 49ers team doesn’t mean all too much in the grand scheme of things. The Eagles offense still looked painfully lethargic and uncreative, and the team’s linebackers were completely abused by George Kittle.

Being in first place is fun, but at 1-2-1, this is a team that still isn’t in a position to seriously contend in 2020.

Now with that said, completely bottoming out and going 0-15-1 was never going to be a solid pathway for the Eagles either. Even with development and “re-tooling” being at the forefront of the Eagles plans here in 2020, it’s hard to do that if you’re completely uncompetitive.

Snagging a win on national television could do wonders for a team that has looked largely uninspired thus far. Young guys like K’Von Wallace, Greg Ward, and Jordan Mailata will likely continue to see large roles moving forward, and having them compete in some solid victories here and there would do wonders for their overall progression.
