Darius Slay has come as advertised thus far.

Newly acquired cornerback Darius Slay was immediately put to the test once he arrived in Philadelphia, being tasked with guarding Terry McLaurin, Cooper Kupp, and Robert Woods through the first two weeks of the season. Despite the team’s overall lack of success, Slay has done his job, and then some.

Slay has been targeted 12 times during those two games, allowing six receptions and just 56 total yards. Opposing quarterbacks have a passer rating in the low 60s when targeting Slay, and Slay obviously hasn’t allowed a TD thrown his direction either.

For the most part, you really just haven’t heard Slay’s name during the TV broadcasts, which is a really good thing. He’s completely taking away QB’s favorite targets on the field, and teams are opting to simply not even test him at the moment.

Slay will have his hands full against the Bengals seeing as they employ a WR duo of AJ Green and Tyler Boyd, but my guess would be that Slay thrives yet again. He appears to be in great shape, and his ability to read and react off a rookie QB in Burrow should be on full display.

Now if only the DBs surrounding Slay could step up and make some plays (looking at you Avonte Maddox)…
