2. Back-seven blitzes to confuse Jared Goeff

While the Philadelphia Eagles’ offense is going to have trouble holding back the unstoppable force known as the Los Angeles Rams’ defensive front, the same could easily be said for Jim Schwartz’s pass rush too.

Between the sudden emergence of Josh Sweat, the ole’ reliable performances of Brandon Graham, and the debut of Javon Hargrave in midnight green, the Eagles’ defense will have a plethora of options to put pressure on Jared Goeff using their front four.

But personally, I think the Eagles (again) need to be a tad more creative to really instill the level of fear in Goeff’s head to impact his ability to make quick decisions in a clean pocket.

I’m talking safety blitzes, I’m talking slot cornerback blitzes, maybe rush five, maybe even rush six? In Week 1, Duke Riley picked up half of his first career sacks, and in practice, Shaun Bradley was all over the field as a do-it-all rusher from the second level; why not send that duo right down the center of the Rams’ line – preferably between Joseph Noteboom and Austin Corbett – and wreak a little havoc? It’s not like the Rams’ running backs are particularly noted for their abilities to pick up the blitz in pass pro.

If Jim Schwartz can get pressure with his front four and only his front four, more power to him, but after lulling Washington to sleep with a rather predictable attack plan until the chips were down, why not come out hot and make Goeff’s life a whole lot harder after a cross-country flight?
