Bold predictions for the Philadelphia Eagles in 2020

As we are now just one day away from kicking off the 2020 campaign, the Philadelphia Eagles are in for an interesting year. With a first place schedule and several roster changes made, it’s been a big question as to how this team puts it together to compete in the NFC for 2020.

Before we get to the season, however, it’s always fun to throw in player predictions on how we think they will perform. Without further adieu, here are your five bold predictions for the Philadelphia Eagles in 2020.

Carson Wentz will break his own team records

Entering his fifth year as the starter for the Philadelphia Eagles, Carson Wentz has been very good as the team’s starting quarterback.

In 2017, Wentz broke the team’s record for most touchdown passes in a season with 33, doing so in only 13 games.

In 2019, Wentz broke the team’s record for most passing yards in a season with 4,039, doing so with his top three wide receiver weapons missing significant time.

In 2020, Wentz will break both of these records. Coming off of a year where his only deep threat in DeSean Jackson played one whole game, and Alshon Jeffery and Nelson Agholor missed significant time, Wentz still put up manageable numbers (27/7 TD:INT ratio and 4,039 yards).

After adding a ton of speed to the offense by drafting Jalen Reagor, John Hightower and Quez Watkins, along with the return of Jackson, Wentz should have a field day throwing to all of those guys on the outside. The only consistent deep threat Wentz has had in his career has been Torrey Smith in 2017, the year he played an MVP caliber season. Imagine what Wentz is capable of doing with a whole arsenal of speed on his team.

The offense will finally be able to open up, giving Wentz opportunities to either take shots down the field or dissect the defense in the short game with his tight ends and running backs. Given his weapons stay healthy, Wentz is in for another year of breaking his own team records.
