Philadelphia Eagles: 4 potential midseason Alshon Jeffery trades
By David Esser
Chicago Bears
All Jeffery has talked about since Foles left is how much more he preferred playing with Foles over Wentz, so why not simply reunite the two?
The Bears have been in a bit of a down spiral ever since the infamous “double doink” game, as former first-round pick Mitchell Trubisky is knocking on the door of being a perineal backup moving forward. Chicago traded for Foles this offseason, and all reports indicate the team moving forward with the former Super Bowl MVP as their starting QB.
The Bears actually have a solid amount of WR talent on their roster, with Allen Robinson and Anthony Miller leading the way, however there is always a place for adding talent, especially when it’s coming at a low price.
Similar to that of the Jets and Joe Douglas, the Bears also have a unique connection with the Philly front office, as their current head coach Matt Nagy was an assistant/intern with the team from 2008-2012. Nagy and Pederson remain close to this day, and the Bears run a similar styled offense to that of which the Eagles ran around Foles and Jeffery.
With Foles possibly pushing the Chicago front office to pull the trigger, and Roseman willing to offload Jeffery for pennies, it’s a very possible deal should the Bears be in a position to “buy” come the deadline.
Oh, and on top of all that, Jeffery obviously already played for Chicago. There might be a tiny bit of bad blood there, but it’s an entirely new coach-QB duo at this point in time. He’s clearly not happy in Philly anymore, so I doubt he’d be too upset at heading back to Chi-town.
There’s no guarantee that Jeffery is moved this year, in fact, the complexity of his contract makes it all too likely that he’ll remain on the Philadelphia Eagles for the time being. If Roseman is unable to find a landing spot for the disgruntled vet, a simple “release” should be in order in 2021.
