Carson Wentz, QB

Without being too much of a Carson Wentz sympathizer, it really does seem like the poor guy just can’t catch a break. His personal injuries aside, Wentz lost his favorite pass-catcher just one week into the season last year, and now his newest weapon has been taken from him before the season has even started. Heck, back in 2018 Wentz never even got a real chance to throw to that year’s deep threat; Mike Williams.

Every team deals with injuries, I’m not going to pretend Wentz and the Eagles are alone in that regard, but it does seem to happen to Philadelphia to an excessive extent. Last year Wentz did a fantastic job elevating his play down the stretch, regardless of who was around him, as the Philadelphia Eagles captured the NFC East crown. At least early on, Wentz will likely have to play at a similarly high level.

If guys like Jackson, Sanders, Ertz, and Goedert can stay healthy, there might be a tad more leeway in terms of Wentz being able to afford a mistake here or there. However, losing that explosive big play ability of Reagor is undoubtedly a big loss, especially when going up against an elite Washington pass rush during Week 1.
