Josh Hader, Milwaukee Brewers (RP)

The crown jewel of the trade deadline, acquiring reliever Josh Hader would not only vault the Philadelphia Phillies to the top of the NL East this year, but he would also set the team up for years worth of elite bullpen action. Currently one of the best relievers in all of baseball, Hader still has three years worth of control on his contract, making him one of the most sought after arms in all of baseball currently.

Hader has a career ERA in the low 2.00s, and he’s currently posting a 1.86 ERA through the 2020 season with the Brewers. Hader leans on a lightning fast four-seam fastball, and then comes in with a deadly sweeping slider to punch out batters. He rarely allows baserunners (0.858 WHIP), and when he does, he does a great job working out of jams.

Hader has a career total of 69 games finished and 56 saves, so he could easily slot in as the Phillies closer. If Giardi opts to continue rolling Workman out as the ninth-inning specialist, Hader would without question become the best set-up man in all of baseball.

Hader would cost a lot to acquire, especially considering how many teams are reportedly knocking on the Brewer’s door for him. However, if the Phillies truly are looking to go all-in this season, Hader would do the most in terms of pushing that needle in the right direction.
