5. Raul Neto (PG)

Raul Neto was not a fan favorite to say the least. Neto who I believe was looked upon to somewhat fill that TJ McConnell role just never really grew on fans the way McConnell did. When watching Neto with a blind eye, he looks very slow and un-athletic compared to a Simmons who normally starts at point guard for the 76ers. Many fans preferred to see Burks over Neto down the stretch, but ultimately Neto would’ve been the better option to give minutes to at the PG position.

Contrary to most fans belief, I actually liked Neto’s efficient and safe style of play. Yes, he was undersized and not very athletic but he played smart, didn’t take bad shots, and didn’t have as many careless turnovers. Despite me favoring Neto over Burks, I still understand there was a significant lack in guard play without Simmons on the floor.

The 76ers will need to let guys like Burks and Neto walk so they can use their resources to get younger and more valuable pieces whether that’s through free agency or the draft.

Philadelphia 76ers: Looking at 5 possible head coaching candidates. dark. Next

This offseason will not be easy for the 76ers as they already have to find a new head coach after firing Brett Brown. After hiring a new coach, they will have to find different ways to create cap space in order to make this roster better. The biggest piece of the puzzle is moving Horford’s contract which would create a domino effect over the roster. All in all the 76ers need to off-load these five guys to have a chance at a successful offseason.
