Shareef Miller

The team’s fourth-round pick in 2019, former Penn State defensive end Shareef Miller isn’t necessarily a lock for the Eagles roster at the moment. The team already has a good amount of depth there with Josh Sweat and recently re-signed Vinny Curry backing up Brandon Graham and Derek Barnett.

Throw in the fact that the front office burned a fourth-round pick on acquiring pass rusher Gernard Avery during last year’s trade deadline, and it’s seriously hard to see where Miller fits into all of this.

Miller has been pretty outspoken during the offseason that he is going to find a way into the Eagles DE rotation in 2020 (he’s gone as far as predicting 10 sacks for himself), but he’s definitely fighting an uphill battle.

Both Curry and Sweat were seriously productive as rotational ends last season, and a lot has been said about the Eagles coaching staff getting creative to get Avery on the field this year. It’s not impossible that the team takes six defensive ends with them on the roster, but it’s definitely unlikely.

Miller could see a potential trip to the practice squad in 2020, or even another stint on the injury reserve with a “phantom injury”. Either way, it’s a complete coin toss whether he’s actually on the field for the team in 2020
