2020 NFL mock draft: Philadelphia Eagles-only draft day-edition
And with their eighth and final pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, the Philadelphia Eagles select… Easton Stick? Like the backup quarterback for the Los Angeles Chargers Easton Stick?
That’s right, I changed my mind. In true Howie Roseman fashion, I think the Eagles should trade their sixth-round pick – probably in a pick swap – to LA to reunite Carson Wentz with his college backup.
Why risk getting another Clayton Thorson in Hawaii‘s Cole McDonald or San Jose State‘s Josh Love when you can get a proven commodity with the same pro-style experience that inspired Roseman to trade up twice for Wentz’s draft rights?
Makes a ton of sense to me, especially if the Chargers end up landing Tua Tagovailoa.
And while Stick’s role as a backup quarterback is pretty obvious and self-explanatory, his skill set is actually much more akin to Taysom Hill than Nate Sudfeld.
Whether lined up as a change-of-pace quarterback – if such a thing exists – a wildcat quarterback or even as a wide receiver/running back on the field next to Wentz in a package only Doug Pederson could come up with.
The trick plays, think about the trick plays.
Will this, or any of my suggested moves actually happen on draft day? Probably not, but one can dream, right?
Other options: Wake Forrest‘s Essang Bassey, San Jose State’s Josh Love
Player comp: Taysom Hill
