If the Philadelphia Eagles are unable to land a speedster like Henry Ruggs III, Jalen Reagor, or Denzel Mims in the first round, Devin Duvernay out of Texas could be a solid consolation prize with one of the team’s three fourth-round picks.

A four-year contributor for the Longhorns, Duvernay truly blew up on a national level as a senior in 2019, where he doubled his career receiving yards thanks to a fantastic showing as the team’s top receiving option. Hauling in passes from junior phenom Sam Ehlinger, Duvernay amassed 1,386 yards and nine touchdowns on 106 catches; nearly tripling the total of the team’s number two receiving option, Collin Johnson.

Duvernay is fast on tape, and the speed translates into on-field testing, as he ran a 4.39 40 yard dash at the 2020 NFL Combine.

But here’s the thing about Duvernay that makes him such an intriguing prospect: He ran a 4.39 while measuring in at 5-foot-10, 210 pounds.

Built more like a running back than a wide receiver – think an even more jacked up Darren Sproles – Duvernay has the speed to get open on the outside and the girth needed to get physical across the middle of the field if deployed out of the slot.

If Duvernay has a bit more wiggle to his game, he very well may be a Day 2 pick – and could still be if some team falls in love with his production – but there’s still a ton of value to be found in the first-team All-Big 12 receiver in Day 3.
