Scott Kingery

After a semi-breakout in his second MLB season, 2020 was supposed to be the year that Scott Kingery made a name for himself around baseball. I personally was hoping that he would finally be given second base all to himself, which looked like it would be the case after they had screwed around with him for a couple of seasons and made him into some sort of super-utility guy. But there was also a possibility that he would have to play in the outfield if any number of things happened, such as struggles by Adam Haseley or if top prospect Alec Bohm forced his way to the majors to cause a chain reaction among the position players.

No matter what, this was going to be an important year for the soon to be 26-year old Kingery, who is just hitting what should be his prime as a baseball player. He’s not young by baseball standards anymore, so an entire missed year can’t be written off or taken as an opportunity to physically or mentally mature in some way. Kingery is already there, and it’s imperative that he gets 500+ plate appearances so that he builds on the momentum of 2019.
