The Philadelphia 76ers are Dalessandro’s Steaks

Dalessandro’s; a hole-in-the-wall in the neighborhood of Roxborough. It’s unique. It’s special. And similar to the Philadelphia 76ers fanbase and organization, the people who live in Roxborough ride it out for each other.

A foot-long Amoroso roll, packed with chopped rib eye, onions, and cheese; all for $7.50, making sure one gets their money’s worth.

Yes, the cheesesteak is great. A personal favorite of mine. But it’s the location, more than anything, that resonates in comparison with the Sixers.

Roxborough is not the prettiest section of Philadelphia. It’s a blue-collar neighborhood that, at times, is mixed-into its counterparts; Manayunk and East Falls. But it takes credit as its own – much like the Sixers.

Sure, it’s okay to admit the current Sixers season has not been the prettiest, but it ebbs and flows. It’s the hole-in-the-wall that we all gravitate back to. It’s greasy, it’s sloppy, and sometimes it makes us feel sick – but it’s the process we trust. Is Dalessandro’s the best cheesesteak in the city? Who knows. Are the Sixers the best team in the East? Who knows. But one thing is true – we enjoy every moment, and every bite, while it lasts.

We may agree-to-disagree based on the choices above. But as stated earlier, choosing your favorite cheesesteak joint is a rite of passage in the City of Brotherly Love.

I’m not a food critic, and I’m not a promoter of the places listed above – I’m just a fan of Philly sports and a fan of discovering the next great cheesesteak.

And just one more thing: there’s no inherent need for ketchup on a Philly cheesesteak.
