After a mediocre start to the season, the Philadelphia Flyers managed to post one of the best November runs in franchise history and stand third in Metropolitan Division.

Back on Oct. 29th, the Philadelphia Flyers faced off against the Pittsburgh Penguins in their final game of the month. The Flyers lost this one in embarrassing fashion to their rivals, 7-1.

Only using this to spark momentum, the Flyers rattled off a seven-game streak where they picked up a point, while then picking up points in nine of 11 games.

In doing so, the orange and black picked up the most points in the Eastern Conference with 22, while working their way to a 9-2-2 record.

The team travels to Montreal Saturday night to try to pick up their 10th win of the month, which would be their fourth 10-win month in the decade. If they conquer the Montreal Canadians, the Flyers will clinch 24 points in the month, tying their franchise record.

Key Players

Carter Hart

Carter Hart struggled to start the season. During October, Hart was pulled from two games and posted a lackluster 2-3-1 record. During those games, he had a .864 save percentage and a 3.32 goals-against average, which is clearly far from the Hart Flyers fans know and love.

However, the youngster bounded back in November. His record of 6-2-2, .927 save percentage, and 1.94 goals-against average allowed him to climb to 11th in the NHL with a 2.44 goals-against average. Fully expect that Hart is back and that his teammate Brian Elliot will continue to play just as well.

Sean Couturier

Sean Couturier had a month of November to remember. The solid two-well forward posted 14 points in 15 games going into Saturday night’s game, with six goals and eight assists. His spark with any line he has played on has allowed players such as Oskar Lindblom and Jakub Voracek to bounce back during November as well.

Matt Niskanen

Going under the radar a bit, defenceman Matt Niskanen has been one of the best pickups this offseason. During November, the blueliner picked up six points, but what stood out was his natural leadership ability.

Being a 13-year veteran, he has been able to pair up with numerous young defensemen around him and work his game around them. Along with this, “Nisky” showed what “Philly tough” means, as he led the team in hits (33) and was third with blocks (20).

Hopefully, the Flyers can keep the trend going on Saturday when facing the Canadians to remain in third place of the Metropolitan Division.
