Alshon Jeffery could help Eagles finally get out of offensive slump Week 13
By Dan Parzych
All signs point to Alshon Jeffery being ready to go for the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 13 against the Miami Dolphins.
To say the offense of the Philadelphia Eagles has been in a huge slump over the last month or so would be a huge understatement when seeing how the unit has struggled to put up points, especially over the previous two games.
But with Alshon Jeffery expected to return for Sunday’s Week 13 meeting with the Miami Dolphins, the Eagles could finally receive the necessary boost on offense they desperately need to make a strong push at the playoffs.
As crazy as it is to believe, Philadelphia is still somehow in the hunt for the playoffs thanks to the Dallas Cowboys losing on Thanksgiving Day to the Buffalo Bills, putting the Eagles only one game back of their division rivals in the NFC East race.
What’s even more exciting is when it comes to the final five games of the regular season, Philadelphia happens to have the easiest schedule of all 32 teams.
In other words, if the offense continues to struggle, and the Eagles fail to take advantage of the favorable schedule, it’s going to be a long offseason for Doug Pederson‘s squad.
However, there’s no reason to be thinking with this kind of negative attitude, and Philadelphia fans should be excited over Jeffery’s expected return.
No one needs to explain just how much of a difference maker Jeffery can be in the passing game when healthy since there’s a reason he’s been one of Carson Wentz‘s favorite targets over the years.
Jeffery’s 2019 campaign hasn’t exactly gone according to plan as a result of the injuries, but if the wideout can finish the year on a strong note to help the Eagles win the NFC East title, this is what will be the most important.
Just because Philadelphia has failed to live up to the high expectations for the most part this season doesn’t necessarily mean they can’t make a deep run in the playoffs if given the opportunity.
So while Jeffery’s expected to return certainly won’t solve all the issues Philadelphia has been dealing with in recent weeks, anything will seem better at wide receiver when seeing how the unit has looked as of late.
