Philadelphia Eagles fans should be frustrated over an interesting statistic involving their group of receivers and Michael Thomas.

Even though Michael Thomas isn’t technically a member of the Philadelphia Eagles, although it’s safe to say they would welcome the wideout with open arms, the New Orleans Saints star has been connected to Doug Pederson‘s team in the most unexpected way.

Between DeSean Jackson‘s injury turning out to be more serious than originally expected along with players like Nelson Agholor failing to step up when needed the most, the Eagles have seen all sorts of frustration with the wide receiver position in 2019.

And while the main focus surrounding Philadelphia at the moment has been on the upcoming matchup with the Seattle Seahawks, an interesting statistic emerged this week about Thomas, and how he has more receptions than all Eagles receivers entering Week 12.

While Philadelphia’s group of wide receivers has 93 catches through 10 games, Thomas already has 94 receptions to his name, making it seem like he will have the single-season record (Marvin Harrison had 143 receptions in 2002) in no time.

If Eagles fans didn’t already realize just how much Philadelphia’s receivers have been struggling in 2019, this latest statistic was most likely a major wake-up call, because it’s absolutely embarrassing to consider.

Every team in the NFL deals with their own sets of problems throughout the regular season, but in a way, Philadelphia has no one to blame other than themselves for some of the struggles at wideout this season.

Obviously, Jackson’s injury was out of their control, but why didn’t the Eagles make a move for another wideout before the trade deadline as insurance?

Better yet, why on earth did the team think it would be a good idea to give Mack Hollins another chance when he clearly doesn’t have what it takes to produce on offense.

Otherwise, Philadelphia as a team wouldn’t be sitting here looking at Thomas, and how the Ohio State product has more receptions than the entire group of Eagles receivers.

Once the regular season officially comes to an end in a little over a month from now, Philadelphia will hopefully have the edge over Thomas in the receptions department.

But if not, it’s only going to make things more embarrassing for the Eagles, and make it clear they will have some work to do in the offseason.
