Jordan Matthews is officially back for a third stint with the Philadelphia Eagles after signing with the team on Monday.

No matter what the situation seems to be like, Jordan Matthews always seems to be a popular candidate to re-join the Philadelphia Eagles, which turned out to be the case this week after the wideout agreed to join the team on Monday for a third stint.

Similar to the situation last year, it’s been no secret the Eagles are dealing with injuries in the wide receiver department, and while Matthews isn’t going to solve all the issues at the position, he’s certainly a better option compared to someone like Mack Hollins.

Prior to the trade in 2017 that sent him to the Buffalo Bills, Matthews developed all sorts of great chemistry with Carson Wentz on offense, and even though it’s been a while, Philadelphia would love nothing more than to see the duo return to this level.

Despite the Eagles having two of the top players on offense to work with in Alshon Jeffery and Zach Ertz, DeSean Jackson‘s injury turning out to be more serious than originally expected as put the offense in a tough position over the last few months.

Matthews is nowhere near the same level as Jackson from a production standpoint, but Philadelphia is in a position where they seem willing to try just about anything to gain some sort of improvement on offense.

A quarterback like Wentz can only do so much on his own without the proper support from his teammates at wide receiver, and since the Eagles made the mistake of not being aggressive before the trade deadline, bringing Matthews back seemed like their best option.

Some Eagles fans will make the case that Matthews wasn’t on the team before for a reason, but maybe if their lucky, the third time will be the charm for the Vanderbilt product.

Thanks to some surprise help from the Minnesota Vikings this past weekend, Philadelphia is in much better shape to compete with the Dallas Cowboys for the NFC East title with both teams entering Week 11 with a 5-4 record.

As previously mentioned, Matthews isn’t going to solve all of the issues the Eagles have been dealing with on offense, but if his play somehow provides a spark to help secure a playoff spot, this is what really matters the most.
