The Philadelphia Eagles received some help Sunday night with the Minnesota Vikings defeating the Dallas Cowboys to gain some ground in the NFC East.

Even though the Philadelphia Eagles were technically on a bye in Week 10, all eyes were still on Sunday night’s game between two familiar faces in the Dallas Cowboys and Minnesota Vikings.

While the Eagles currently sit behind the Cowboys in the NFC East standings at the moment, the Vikings happen to hold the No. 6 seed in the NFC playoff picture at the moment, setting up for what should be an exciting finish to the 2019 season.

For obvious reasons, Philadelphia would seem fine with either scenario since punching any ticket to the postseason is what matters the most, but if they had to choose between the division or earning a Wild Card spot, winning the NFC East would be the main preference.

With the Eagles entering the bye week with a 5-4 record, a win by the Vikings Sunday would result in the Cowboys dropping to the same record, which turned out to be exactly the case after Minnesota held on for the 28-24 victory.

Dallas may technically hold the tiebreaker over Philadelphia at the moment due to their head-to-head matchup from October, but with the Eagles appearing to have the more favorable remaining schedule, the team should feel a little extra thankful towards the Vikings.

Of course, this is always easier said than done since it’s up to Philadelphia to show up to key games they’re expected to win, but hopefully the bye week gave the team plenty of time to reflect, and prepare for the final stretch of the regular season.

In a little over a month, one can only imagine how intense things will be when the Cowboys travel to Lincoln Financial Field to face the Eagles for what could be a Week 16 battle that ends up deciding which team finishes on top of the NFC East.

But before jumping too far ahead, the main focus for Philadelphia at the moment is on the team’s upcoming game against the New England Patriots, who will be well rested too after coming off their bye week.

Still, after seeing the history between the Eagles and Vikings over the last couple of years, isn’t it crazy to think how appreciative Philadelphia fans are towards Minnesota for at least one week?
