No. 3: Nick Foles

There is no question that Nick Foles has to be on this list. The only question is, how high?

Here’s your answer.

And even if it is a fair criticism that one game should not make a career, an exception must be made when the one game in question is the Super Bowl, and the player being considered earned MVP honors in the game by defeating the one of the greatest quarterback in NFL history and wiping away a half-century of misery for his franchise in an instant.

And so I’m proud to make former Eagles quarterback Foles a top-three selection for this list. He earned it the hard way, but he earned it in spades.

Plus, let’s not forget his fantastic 2013 season of “27 touchdowns and two interception” fame that the usual sports dopes would simply call “27 and 2” for some reason when phoning into WIP to extol Foles’ virtues over the years prior to the Super Bowl win.

But even if you want to make the case that it’s basically one game that gets Foles pretty close to the top spot on this list, it’s still a solid argument. What a game it was.

Because, although there have been a great deal of players that have come through this town who were “better” than Foles, literally nobody will ever forget what he did for the city.

Not a bad legacy.
