Philadelphia Phillies: 4 potential candidates to be next manager with Gabe Kapler out
By Dan Parzych
Here are three names that come to mind for the Philadelphia Phillies to potentially hire as their next manager now that Gabe Kapler is officially out.
After two seasons, the Philadelphia Phillies made the difficult decision on Thursday to move on from Gabe Kapler, meaning the team will need to quickly find a potential replacement.
While it may seem unfair to fire Kapler after only two seasons with the team, there was plenty of frustration over the Phillies appearing to be built to make a run at the World Series, yet they couldn’t even earn one of the Wild Card spots in the NL playoff picture.
From questionable lineups to frustration surrounding the bullpen, there were plenty of factors that came into play behind Philadelphia’s decision to move on from Kapler.
However, as difficult as it was to reach this decision, one can only imagine how frustrating it would have been if Kapler earned another chance to prove himself in 2020, and the Phillies ended up with the same results by missing the playoffs.
When looking at all of the high expectations surrounding this team entering the 2019 season after a successful offseason highlighted by the signing of Bryce Harper, it was embarrassing to watch Philadelphia finish fourth in the NL East, only ahead of the Miami Marlins.
Baseball fans can say whatever they want about Kapler, but in the long run, the decision to move on from the former manager after only two seasons seems like the right move for the Phillies.
Now that Philadelphia has an opening for manager along with plenty of talent to work with, here are four managers that immediately come to mind as far as potential replacements for Kapler.
