For some reason, the Philadelphia Phillies seem to be taking forever in deciding Gabe Kapler’s future with the organization.

Ever since the 2019 season officially came to an end for the Philadelphia Phillies, fans have been patiently waiting to see what the organization would do with Gabe Kapler.

Despite all of the hype in the offseason highlighted by the signing of Bryce Harper, the Phillies were unable to even earn a Wild Card spot in the National League playoff picture, which is part of the reason why the team is analyzing what to do with Kapler with manager.

From inconsistency in the bullpen to the offense struggling at times to put up the necessary runs to win games, there were plenty of reasons behind Philadelphia’s inability to make the playoffs in 2019.

But unfortunately for Kapler, most of the blame is going to fall on the shoulders of Kapler since there was plenty of times too in which he received plenty of criticism for his lineups.

By now, it’s safe to assume that most Philadelphia fans expected to see the organization reach a decision in regards to Kapler, yet it’s almost the middle of October, and the Phillies are still trying to figure it all out.

Even if some will make the case that Philadelphia deserves some benefit of the doubt for talking to players to see how they feel about Kapler, this still seems like something that should have been done earlier in the month.

These days, it’s unlikely for teams to move on from a manager after only two years with the team, but also the Phillies made it clear in the offseason they were built strong enough to be World Series contenders.

If Philadelphia were to give Kapler another chance in 2020, what if the results were the same as this year in which the Phillies came up short again of reaching the playoffs, and another season with a talented roster went to waste?

Clearly, this has most likely crossed the minds of the organization, and could even be part of the reason behind Philadelphia taking so long to decide on Kapler’s future with the team.

And while signs at the moment point to the Phillies giving it another go with Kapler, an update sooner rather than later would be beneficial for all parties, including the fan base.
