Quinton Dunbar

It’s no secret that if there’s a team as bad as the Dolphins and may actually be a tad more dysfunctional, it’s the Washington Redskins. The 0-5 Redskins (a starting record the franchise hasn’t seen since 2001) just fired their head coach of three seasons, Jay Gruden, and if this doesn’t signify change, I don’t know what does. When there’s change within an NFL franchise, it’s common to see players traded away for future assets. Philadelphia could cash out if Washington decides to trade a player or two in hopes of stockpiling some draft picks to hopefully turn things around down the road.

One player that the Eagles should inquire about from Washington is 27-year-old Quinton Dunbar.

Dunbar is currently in his fifth season and already has two picks in five games, tying his 2018 total in five games. Dunbar is also under contract through next season, holding a cap hit of a little more than $4 million that increases to $4.5 million next year. A reasonable price to pay for a number two corner that actually ranks at 41st at the position.

Not only could Dunbar come in and fill an immediate role for Philly, but he could also provide another veteran brain in the film room for the young guys to pick. As well as pairing him on the outside, which should be an improvement over the duo of Darby and Jones when the two return from injury.

While his exact value is a bit hard to quantify since teams never want to trade a starter to a division rival, if Dunbar is available to all 31 other teams, the Philadelphia Eagles could do a whole lot worse than acquiring the 27-year-old.
