DeSean Jackson will miss another game for the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday when facing the New York Jets.

Back in Week 2 when DeSean Jackson was sidelined against the Atlanta Falcons with an abdominal strain, the Philadelphia Eagles speedster seemed like he would return in no time since the injury only appeared to be minor.

Instead, the Eagles are entering their Week 5 contest against the New York Jets with Jackson already being ruled out for Sunday, meaning the injury has lasted longer than expected.

From Philadelphia’s perspective, it’s easy to feel somewhat concerned over Jackson still dealing with the injury since the offense could certainly use his presence to provide Carson Wentz with a reliable deep threat.

However, if the Eagles were looking for a positive factor over the situation, all they need to do is look no further than how Sunday’s meeting against the Jets is favorable enough in which Jackson can afford to rest.

It would be one thing if Philadelphia were squaring off against a top contender like last week against the Green Bay Packers, but New York is on the complete opposite level.

While Sam Darnold continues to deal with mono, the Jets enter Week 5 still in search of that first win in 2019, although it should be noted the team is coming off their bye week.

All due respect to Luke Falk, but the chances of the second-year quarterback helping the Jets knock off a team like the Eagles in this one at Lincoln Financial Field seems extremely unlikely to happen.

In other words, since Philadelphia will most likely have enough fire power on offense to get by in Week 5 when facing New York before a tougher matchup the following weekend against the Minnesota Vikings, resting Jackson again shouldn’t hurt at all.

After watching Jackson torch the Washington Redskins in the opener back at the beginning of September with eight catches for 154 yards to go along with two scores, this is just one of many examples surrounding what the veteran can bring to the table each week.

But as much as the Eagles would love to have Jackson on the field this weekend to help take down the Jets, when thinking about the long run over the receiver’s health, this seems like the right move.
