The Philadelphia Eagles could receive some help Sunday night in the NFC East if the New Orleans Saints knock off the Dallas Cowboys.

Thanks to the Philadelphia Eagles pulling off the epic 34-27 win over the Green Bay Packers on Thursday to kick off Week 4, Doug Pederson‘s team gets to sit back and relax for the most part on Sunday.

Of course, just because the Eagles aren’t playing on Sunday doesn’t mean they won’t be keeping an eye on what the rest of the NFC is up to, especially at night when the Dallas Cowboys take on the New Orleans Saints.

Rightfully so, the Cowboys are currently viewed as one of the top teams in the NFC thanks to an impressive 3-0 start in which Dak Prescott is making a strong case to earn that hefty long-term deal from the organization.

But also, when looking at how favorable the first three games have been for Dallas, there’s no question this team will be facing their most difficult challenge to date Sunday night in New Orleans.

Despite suffering a major loss in Drew Brees (thumb) during Week 2, the Saints made a big statement last weekend on the road by defeating the Seattle Seahawks with Teddy Bridgewater under center.

Even though Bridgewater’s numbers (19 of 27 for 177 yards with two touchdowns) against the Seahawks weren’t up there with some other quarterbacks across the league, but also it was just enough for the Saints on offense to get by.

Bridgewater has received plenty of praise over the years for his ability as a game manager, and if the former Louisville star can put together another solid outing Sunday night to help take down the Cowboys, the Eagles would certainly be thrilled to see this happen.

If Dallas were to improve to 4-0 heading into October, this would result in Philadelphia still trailing their division rivals by two games in the NFC East standings heading into their Week 5 contest against the New York Jets.

Before the Eagles know it, that first meeting of the year with the Cowboys will be underway in Week 7, and one can only imagine the high level of intensity that will be on display in this one.

But first, all eyes will be on Sunday’s contest to see if the Eagles can receive some help from the Saints by defeating the Cowboys to trim that lead down in the NFC East to one game.
