The Philadelphia Eagles started off the year on a hot note with a 32-27 victory over the Washington Redskins in Week 1.

Even though the Philadelphia Eagles didn’t exactly get off to the best start in Week 1 when taking on the Washington Redskins, the important factor is Doug Pederson and company were eventually able to hang on for the 32-27 win.

Starting off the new 2019 season with a win is always a major advantage, but also it helps the Eagles as well that it came within the division since chances are, they’re going to need every victory possible this year with the tough competition within the division.

On paper, Philadelphia were rightfully considered heavy favorites heading into Sunday’s contest against Washington, but seeing the play from the first half along with the five-point victory is the perfect example of how there are no guarantees in the NFL.

One can only imagine what the feeling would have been like surrounding the Eagles heading into what is expected to be a difficult Week 2 matchup against the Atlanta Falcons on the road, but at least it’s a non-issue since Philadelphia defeated Washington.

Just like every other team, the Eagles have a few areas that could see some improvement before next Sunday arrives when they travel to Atlanta to take on the Falcons.

Unlike the Eagles, the Falcons came up short during their loss on the road to the Minnesota Vikings, meaning Atlanta will be feeling extra motivated to make sure they can avoid an 0-2 start.

But for now, it only seems fair to focus on the positive factors from Sunday’s win over the Redskins, and discuss why the Eagles should consider themselves big winners from Week 1.
