No matter how tempting it may seem, the Philadelphia Eagles are better off without LeSean McCoy in 2019.

Over the years, there have been plenty of discussions over how great it would be to see LeSean McCoy return to the City of Brotherly Love to reunite with the Philadelphia Eagles if things failed to work out with the Buffalo Bills.

Similar to DeSean Jackson, McCoy was one of the unfortunate victims of the disastrous Chip Kelly era with the Eagles after the team traded him to the Buffalo Bills before the 2015 season.

When taking into consideration that McCoy earned trips to the Pro Bowl in three of the previous four years leading up to the trade, the trade by Philadelphia came as an absolute shock at the time.

Looking back, there were plenty of moments in which Eagles fans hoped that McCoy had stuck around since he still provided plenty of excitement for the Bills on offense, and was always a blast to watch every Sunday.

With that being said, Saturday’s roster cuts came with a major surprise early on when it was announced that Buffalo would be parting ways with McCoy, meaning the veteran running back will be available to join whatever team he desires.

If this were a few years ago, it would have been tempting to consider bringing McCoy back to provide an extra weapon to work with in the backfield.

But since the circumstances are much different for the Eagles at running back heading into Week 1 of the 2019 season, there’s no need to even consider the possibility of McCoy returning for a second stint with the team.

During the offseason, Philadelphia made a major upgrade at running back by acquiring Jordan Howard from the Chicago Bears along with selecting Miles Sanders in the draft to provide a new duo in the backfield.

Take this into consideration with the fact that Philadelphia hopes to use Darren Sproles and Corey Clement to their advantage as well, there’s simply no need to even consider the thought of a reunion with McCoy since the Eagles are much better off without him.

Eventually, McCoy will find a new home for the 2019 season since plenty of teams could use help with the addition of a veteran running back.

But when it comes to the Eagles, the team is already set at running back with their current situation, meaning they will be just fine without McCoy.
