Instead of heading to the Philadelphia Eagles, Jadeveon Clowney will play for the Seattle Seahawks during the 2019 season.

While roster cuts have been the most popular topic of discussion surrounding the Philadelphia Eagles over the last couple of days, a potential trade involving Jadeveon Clowney has also been fun to discuss as well.

With all of frustration surrounding Clowney failing to receive a long-term deal from the Houston Texans, the Eagles had been linked as a potential landing spot for months since the former No. 1 pick seemed like he would be a great addition.

Instead, Clowney is reportedly heading to another team within the NFC in the Seattle Seahawks, leaving plenty of Philadelphia fans feeling frustration over the missed opportunity.

On paper, the Eagles arguably have one of the best overall teams in the NFL, and one can only imagine what the 2019 season will have in store for the defensive unit when looking at all of the potential.

Throw Clowney into the mix of a defense that already consists of numerous key players such as Brandon Graham, and Fletcher Cox, this Philadelphia squad would have caused all sorts of problems for opponents over the next few months.

However, there are numerous factors that work out to the advantage of the Eagles in missing out on a potential trade for Clowney, especially the money that would need to be spent to keep him around for the long run.

Philadelphia was already considered one of the early favorites to make a run at the Super Bowl without Clowney, and that’s simply not going to change just because they missed out on pulling off a trade with Houston for the star defender.

Acquiring Clowney certainly would have been exciting due to another dangerous weapon to work with on defense, but the Eagles will be just fine.

Plus, it should also be noted that since Clowney will technically be playing this year under the franchise tag, there isn’t even a guarantee that he would have stuck around for the long run with the Eagles.

So all things considered, Philadelphia fans upset over failing to land Clowney should focus on what’s most important for this team, which is the Eagles are still in an amazing position to make another run at the Super Bowl.
