4 reactions to Eagles trimming down 53-man roster for 2019 season

2. Eagles determined to give Hollins another chance
After showing a ton of potential as a rookie in 2017 when the Eagles would eventually go on to win the Super Bowl, Mack Hollins took an unfortunate step back during his sophomore campaign due to injuries.
To top it off for Hollins, the young Philadelphia wideout has been facing a ton of pressure over the last couple of months in order to prove to the Eagles that he can in fact stay healthy, and make an impact for the team during the 2019 season.
The problem with this, however, is that when compared to last year, Hollins was facing a ton of extra competition to earn one of the roster spots for the Eagles at wide receiver.
Wentz already has a ton of talent to work with in key players such as Alshon Jeffery and Nelson Agholor, but acquiring DeSean Jackson gave the offense a reliable deep threat to work with.
Not to mention, Philadelphia used a high draft pick on JJ Arcega-Whiteside in April, meaning Hollins would need to make a strong case for the No. 5 spot at receiver.
Luckily for Hollins, the Eagles are willing to give him another chance to prove himself worthy of being a key member of the offense, but also just because he earned a spot on Saturday doesn’t mean things could change moving forward.
