The Philadelphia Eagles have plenty of reasons to be excited about DeSean Jackson beginning his second stint with the team in 2019.

During the offseason, the Philadelphia Eagles pulled off a key move by acquiring DeSean Jackson from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to provide a reliable deep threat to work with in the passing game.

More than ever, the pressure is on for the Eagles to live up to the high expectations heading into the 2019 season since this team seems absolutely stacked on paper, especially on the offensive side of the football.

While Carson Wentz was already fortunate to have some of the league’s most reliable players to work with such as Alshon Jeffery and Zach Ertz, the addition of Jackson should take things to a whole new level on offense.

With that being said, Philadelphia did receive a bit of a scare this week when Jackson happened to suffer a broken ring finger, which can arguably be viewed as a minor injury.

Rightfully so, the Eagles aren’t viewing this situation with Jackson as a reason for concern, but also when looking at some of the other teams across the league dealing with injuries, Philadelphia should consider themselves lucky.

One can only imagine how heartbreaking it would have been to lose Jackson this late in the preseason with the start of September right around the corner since Philadelphia has high expectations for the veteran this year.

Eagles fans remember well just how good Jackson was during his last stint with the team in 2013 when the speedster caught 82 passes for 1,332 yards with nine touchdowns.

Coincidentally, this happened to be the last time Jackson earned a trip to the Pro Bowl, and while it would be great to see him earn another trip, Philadelphia has their eyes set on higher goals consisting of playing in Miami for Super Bowl 54.

If Jackson can manage to live up to the hype with Wentz, there’s every reason in the world to believe this will happen for the Eagles.

But for now, Philadelphia and their fans should just be grateful that Jackson’s injury isn’t more serious, because this would have made the first month of the regular season a little more complicated for both parties.
