Joe Johnson will reportedly be working out for the Philadelphia 76ers on Thursday.

For the most part, it’s been a quiet last couple of weeks for the Philadelphia 76ers, as the team will see their 2019-20 season quickly get underway before they know it since October is right around the corner.

Despite key losses in Jimmy Butler and J.J. Redick, the Sixers still managed to emerge as one of the big winners from the offseason thanks to some other big moves, ranging from acquiring Josh Richardson to signing Al Horford.

All of a sudden, Philadelphia appears to have the best starting lineup in the Eastern Conference, although there’s always room for improvement, and no guarantee they will in fact live up to the high expectations.

For the most part, the Sixers seem to have a pretty clear idea of which players are going to be a key roster, but this doesn’t necessarily mean they could pull off another surprise move or two before the real action gets underway.

Take a look at Thursday for instance, as Philadelphia will be giving 38-year-old guard Joe Johnson a workout.

Believe it or not, the Sixers aren’t the only team expressing interest in Johnson, who is coming off a MVP campaign in the popular Big3 league, and still seems capable of making some sort of impact on a team in the NBA.

Johnson’s age alone will make some Philadelphia fans hesitant towards a move like this, but just imagine what his veteran experience from all those years playing on seven different teams could do for a squad like this loaded with young talent.

In a way, this will be one of the things the Sixers miss most about Redick since it was always great to have an experienced veteran be there for some of his younger teammates such as Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid.

Depending on how things go on Thursday, it will be interesting to see if Philadelphia ends up making a move for Johnson this late in the offseason.

And if not, well at least it won’t be the end of the world for the Sixers since the team is still loaded with talent, but also it’s tough not to wonder how beneficial the addition of Johnson would be.
