Philadelphia Eagles fans will love to hear what Nick Foles had to say about switching his jersey number from No. 9 to No. 7 with the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Even though Nick Foles won’t be playing during Thursday’s preseason game when the Philadelphia Eagles take on the Jacksonville Jaguars, football fans will still be excited to see the former Super Bowl 52 MVP.

Without question, the decision to move on from Foles this offseason was extremely difficult for the Eagles since as much as they wanted to bring him back, deep down they knew it would be too expensive.

At the end of the day, Philadelphia always knew this was Carson Wentz‘s team, and keeping Foles around would have resulted in holding the former first-round pick back from his true potential.

No matter what team he’s on, Eagles fans will always appreciate Foles for helping Philadelphia finally bring home a Super Bowl title after decades and decades of suffering.

And while it seemed impossible for fans to love Foles even more, when they hear his reasoning behind changing his jersey number after joining the Jaguars, well let’s just the impossible is going to happen.

Derrick Gunn from NBC Sports in Philadelphia recently spoke with Foles leading up to Thursday’s preseason game in which the Jaguars quarterback discussed how the decision to wear No. 7 was due to “No. 9 staying in Philadelphia.”

Clearly, the City of Brotherly Love will always have a special place in Foles’ heart, but hearing the reasoning behind the decision with the jersey switch just adds to the list of many reasons behind his appreciation for Philadelphia, both as a city and franchise.

Seeing Foles suit up as a member of the Jaguars moving forward will certainly take some time to get used to, but at least Eagles fans will always have great memories to cherish forever.

On a positive note, at least Foles has sent a pretty strong sign that as long as he’s in the NFL, No. 9 will never be an option on another team since that will forever be linked to the Eagles Super Bowl run from the 2017 season.

Foles always showed true class over Wentz being the top option in Philadelphia towards the end of his time with the Eagles, and while the fan base doesn’t normally cheer on former players on different teams, this will always seem like the exception.
